March 2026 Spotlight: Bitwarden Send for taxes and email verification

Tax deadlines are around the corner, and your password manager vault could use some attention. Here's what's new this month in Bitwarden. Let’s get into it.

Stop emailing sensitive documents. There's a better way.

Tax season is prime time for phishing attacks, and emailing your W-2 is exactly what scammers are counting on. Bitwarden Send lets you share encrypted files via a secure link, with expiration dates and view limits. Your accountant doesn't even need a Bitwarden account to receive the link. See how it works.

New: Lock your Send to specific recipients

Speaking of Bitwarden Send, it just got an update! The Send feature now lets you require email verification before anyone can open your file, so even if a link gets forwarded, only approved recipients get in. Try the improved feature.

Pro Tips

Vault feeling cluttered? There's a fix for that.
Old health portals, abandoned side projects, accounts you haven't touched in years… they're cluttering your search results and autofill suggestions. Item archiving lets you stash them out of sight while making sure they’re still there when you need them. Time to give your vault a spring clean.

Your Windows login just went passwordless
Windows users in a Microsoft Entra ID environment can now use a passkey stored in their Bitwarden vault to log into their device. No password, no phishing risk, and because your passkey lives in your vault, it moves with you if you switch devices. See how to set it up.

Your password manager is only as strong as your weakest layer
A password manager is step one. Step two is making sure your 2FA codes and recovery plan don’t all live inside that same vault. This How-To Geek piece breaks down a simple three-layer setup that takes 15 minutes to build and turns "pretty secure" into cyber resilient. Read the full breakdown.

Speaking of recovery plans…
The Bitwarden Security Readiness Kit is a safe place to store your master password, 2FA codes, and recovery details outside your vault. Set up Emergency Access so a trusted contact can step in when you need it.

Quick tip: Android autofill, one swipe away
Skip the app-switching and add a Bitwarden tile to your Android quick actions for the fastest autofill yet. Swipe down, tap, done. This 1-minute tutorial shows you exactly how to set up quick action autofill.
