Organizations that adopt Bitwarden typically maintain a digital directory as the centralized source of truth for managing user identities. In August 2022, Bitwarden introduced SCIM for Enterprise plans, allowing customers to sync directories with Bitwarden organizations using either SCIM or the standalone Bitwarden Directory Connector app. Now, this capability is included in the Bitwarden Teams plan, giving plan owners more flexibility in choosing their directory sync solution.
When using SCIM, changes made to the directory are automatically pushed to the Bitwarden organization. New hires are instantly added to the right groups, and users on leave or who have departed the company are automatically revoked. This ensures seamless management across all SCIM-compatible systems, including Bitwarden. Not only is this convenient, but also adds to security as it eliminates the occurrence of zombie accounts and potential gaps in your cyber defenses.
Eliminating manual provisioning and overhead is critical to MSPs that serve many customers. MSPs selling the Teams plan can now easily configure and provision SCIM for their customers, rather than having to use the Bitwarden Directory Connector, which was designed for single, non-managed organizations.
