View the new Bitwarden design in beta!
New features for your Bitwarden plan: invite users with a link, stage provisioned users, enterprise fill assist, and more!
Hello Bitwarden admins and owners! Read on to learn about important updates and improvements to Bitwarden.
A new design is coming soon to Bitwarden and a beta is available today for you to test, provide feedback, and ensure a smooth transition for your organization.

Based on conversations with customers and user research, the update brings a more modern experience:
An updated look and feel
More intuitive workflows
“Collections” renamed to “Shared folders”
A simplified navigation tree and hierarchy
Installing the beta applications
Accessing the beta is simple and opt-in, with detailed instructions and known issues documented here: Bitwarden Help Center - Fall 2026 Beta. Note that self-hosted installations are not supported by the beta applications.
Important to know:
The beta clients (desktop apps and Chrome extension) have the same function and security as the production version. Use your normal Bitwarden credentials to log in and evaluate the updates as part of your usual day-to-day workflows.
The beta apps are a separate install/extension. You should only have one version enabled at a time to prevent conflicts.
Once the beta has ended on October 31, uninstall the beta apps as they will not receive automatic updates with new features or security updates.
After you’ve had time to explore the beta, you and your users can visit this survey link to provide feedback. Additional engagement with the community will take place on the Bitwarden Community Forums and the official Bitwarden Subreddit, so feel free to join the discussion there as well!
Use this beta period to update any internal training materials or knowledge bases with new screenshots and terminology. Additional information is available in this downloadable flyer that can be shared across your organization.
General availability
The updated look will automatically roll out to all clients for cloud customers this November: there is nothing you or your users need to do to turn it on. Self-hosted customers will receive the updates with a self-host server release at a later date.
To ensure secure authentication processes, Bitwarden will soon stop supporting the outdated and insecure Single Sign-On encryption scheme, RSAES-PKCS1 v1.5. Starting October 13, automated reminder emails will be periodically sent to admins and owners if your organization is using this encryption method for the SAML data exchanged at login. On December 1st, 2026, organizations still using this encryption scheme will no longer be able to log into Bitwarden via SSO.
Bringing users into the organization is now easier than ever. In the Admin Console, generate a static link that users can click to self-invite to the organization. This is helpful to admins who wish to customize invitation emails with these links, add them into internal knowledge bases and training/onboarding documentation, and more.

The organization invitation link is secured by restricting access to specific allowed domains and the confirmation step required for admitting users to the organization.
When first connecting your directory to Bitwarden via SCIM or the standalone Directory Connector, Bitwarden will now import users into a staged state by default. These users will not occupy a subscription seat, will not be subject to enterprise policies, and will not receive an automatic email invitation.
While staged, users can be assigned roles, permissions, and to collections. This is helpful for organizations with selective rollouts and for preparing vault structure for new users so that they have immediate access to their intended vault items when they join your organization.
When you are ready to invite the specific users, send them an organization invite link via internal communication. When they click the link, they'll be automatically activated and occupy a subscription seat.
No changes will be made to existing configurations for organizations already using SCIM and Directory Connector integrations.
The fill assist feature allows users’ browser extension to consult a curated list of site-specific rules, bringing a smooth autofill experience for websites that don’t follow standard practices for displaying logins. Now, the new enterprise policy, Activate fill assist, will automatically turn this feature on for all users and allow admins to create their own custom ruleset for autofill.

This is particularly useful for organizations that regularly access internal pages or less-trafficked webpages that have challenges with autofill. Review the documentation at Help: Activate fill assist for how to set your own custom ruleset.

Joining the browser extension, the web and desktop apps now have the option to Show quick copy actions in vault. This breaks out the available actions for copying items to the clipboard in a single click for faster access to credentials, credit card numbers, and saved identity fields.

As shared in August’s communication, this product update email is sent about once a quarter. These next few months bring still more updates, including the general availability of the redesigned user interface. Expect additional communications ahead to keep you informed.
It’s important not to mark these product update emails as spam or junk. See the list of legitimate email senders from Bitwarden and ensure that they are allowed past your email filters.
