Directly in the browser extension, a new Health tab brings vault health reports to where users interact most with Bitwarden. To get started, simply click Scan my vault from the tab. After a few moments, the results tally for each category: Exposed, Weak, or Reused.

Select a category to see each flagged login. If the login has a saved website, select Change password to go straight to the site.

Change each at-risk password using the built-in password generator to ensure strong and unique passwords. Then update them in the Bitwarden vault. The extension rescans your vault each time you return to the Health tab to help monitor progress.

SECURITY TIP: After creating a strong, unique password, be sure you’ve also secured the account with two-factor authentication (2FA)!

Availability of vault health reports in the browser extension

The Health tab and full reporting in the extension are available to users who are subscribed to Premium plans or a member of a Families plan. Those users also have access to the full suite of vault health reports in the Bitwarden web app on the Reports page.

Users on the basic free plan see item counts flagged by the scan in the Health tab, and can utilize only the data breach report in the web app.

For Teams and Enterprise plans, reports appear only in the web app for member vaults, and administrators can view reports for the shared vault in the Admin Console. Enterprise organizations also gain extra reporting details and can prompt users for remediation through Access Intelligence.

The foundation of secure accounts is using strong, unique passwords for every login

Strong and unique machine-generated passwords remain the best first defense against hackers. These passwords are impossible to guess and virtually impossible to crack.
