SCIM provisioning comes to Teams plan

Organizations that adopt Bitwarden typically maintain a digital directory as the centralized source of truth for managing user identities. It only makes sense that organizations want to use this directory to create users’ Bitwarden accounts, invitations, and group associations automatically for onboarding and managing succession when a user leaves. This is what the System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) is for, and now it’s available for all Bitwarden business plans, including Teams and Enterprise!

In August 2022, Bitwarden introduced SCIM for Enterprise plans, allowing customers to sync directories with Bitwarden organizations using either SCIM or the standalone Bitwarden Directory Connector app. Now, this capability is included in the Bitwarden Teams plan, giving plan owners more flexibility in choosing their directory sync solution.

When using SCIM, changes made to the directory are automatically pushed to the Bitwarden organization. New hires are instantly added to the right groups, and users on leave or who have departed the company are automatically revoked. This ensures seamless management across all SCIM-compatible systems, including Bitwarden. Not only is this convenient, but also adds to security as it eliminates the occurrence of zombie accounts and potential gaps in your cyber defenses.
