A security review prompted Grimstead's predecessor to begin evaluating alternatives.. Grimstead, who had been using Bitwarden personally for nearly a decade, surfaced it as a natural replacement. "My predecessor was looking for a new password manager and I said, 'Have you thought about using Bitwarden?'" recalled Grimstead. "He came back a few days later and said, 'Yeah Brad, we're using Bitwarden.'" Bitwarden time-based one-time password (TOTP) generation fills that gap directly. “Bitwarden was massively helpful," said Grimstead. "Bitwarden is so much more than just a password manager. It also has the ability to generate those TOTP codes and that was a massive lifesaver for us."
