## Bitwarden updates

**New features come to your Bitwarden plan: New UI preview, Event logs for Send, new vault banner, bulk action bar, and more!**

Hello Bitwarden admins and owners! Read on to learn about important updates and improvements to Bitwarden.

## Important note for self-hosted customers

### Helm chart certificate rotation may be required

If you first deployed a self-hosted Bitwarden instance using a Helm chart version earlier than 2.0.0 and used the default chart-generated certificate, you should rotate your certificate to resolve a possible vulnerability. See this article for more details: [Rotate a Helm Identity Certificate Password](https://bitwarden.com/de-de/help/rotate-identity-certificate-helm/)

## Product updates

### Important – coming soon: New Bitwarden look and feel!

In September, a new design for the browser extension and desktop app will be available as a beta for users interested in an early preview. Watch for a future email from this address with instructions on how to access the beta and share feedback.

![New UI preview](https://bitwarden.com/assets/lufXDz8ts785pJoo0ebLh/c924129f2abfc32627b298043abea29e/image8.png)

Based on conversations with customers and user research, the new design brings a more modern, intuitive, and functional experience. You can expect:

- A modern look and feel
- More intuitive workflows
- "**Collections**" renamed to "**Shared folders**"
- An improved navigation tree and hierarchy

### New import capabilities

Bitwarden now supports importing directly from Keeper Password Manager, a process that securely moves items from Keeper into the Bitwarden vault instead of having to create an export file beforehand. In addition, you can now easily import KeePass format (.kdbx) and Delinea (.csv or .xml) files into the vault.

### Updates to Bitwarden Send: New policies and Event logs

Policies related to Bitwarden Send have been consolidated in the Admin Console to a single Manage Send policy.

Options include:

- Turning Send on/off for the organization
- Allowing or disallowing text or file Sends
- Enforcing Send settings:

 - Access options - Any, Email verification, Password protected
 - Enforcing Send lifespan before deletion
 - Ensuring email of the Send creator is always displayed

In addition, Bitwarden Send activities now appear in the **Event log**, including creating, editing, accessing, and deleting Sends.

### Change members' email address and name

Administrators can now change the email address and name for a member that doesn't have a master password, which can occur in organizations using SSO with trusted devices or the self-hosted Key Connector. These are edited in the Member view of the Admin Console.

![Edit member names](https://bitwarden.com/assets/4mDlmYbjCvDR44ErFRHeJl/0142b373c00a7042cf6881eb3564fc17/image3.png)

Note that the user must be part of a [claimed domain](https://bitwarden.com/de-de/help/claimed-domains/). Other users with master passwords are able to self-serve name and email address changes.

### Bitwarden now asks to be the default password manager on install

When users first install the Bitwarden extension, a prompt automatically appears asking to make Bitwarden the default password manager. The prompt includes instructions to allow for the required browser permissions.

![Ask to be default](https://bitwarden.com/assets/2wtz5pk39e28vlixlRwv9z/726c414f594c182bd71556f47be37f5c/image4.png)

This improves end-user experience by eliminating collisions between Bitwarden and built-in browser password managers, ultimately making Bitwarden an easier experience for members and ensuring passwords are properly stored in the Bitwarden vault.

### New action bar improves bulk actions in desktop and web

Now, when selecting more than one item in the Bitwarden desktop app or web app, a new action bar appears toward the bottom of the screen to allow for contextual quick actions, improving vault management workflows.

### Add an announcement banner to Bitwarden apps for your users

Admins can now add a dismissible banner with a custom message to their organization's apps, using a new **Vault banner** policy. Use it to announce policy updates, maintenance windows, and more.

Members can dismiss the banner with a button, and Bitwarden logs each dismissal in the Event log.

### Policies now apply to members when they accept the organization invitation

Policies in effect at the organization are now immediately applied to a user when they accept the initial organization invitation, instead of when they are confirmed to the organization. This prevents users from taking actions that would make them non-compliant with your organization policies before they are confirmed, such as joining a second organization or saving items into their individual vault.

### Support for SIEM integration with Generic HEC solutions

Bitwarden now integrates with any HTTP event collector (HEC) compatible platform for SIEM using the Generic HEC connection. This is in addition to the several native [SIEM integrations](https://bitwarden.com/de-de/integrations/#siem-integrations/) already available.

### Coming soon: Many more features and another email update

Normally this product update email is shared about once a quarter. With a large set of new capabilities being delivered in the coming months, there will be an elevated level of communications to ensure admins are informed of important updates.

Some exciting features coming soon:

- A shareable organization invite link
- Customizable [Fill assist](https://bitwarden.com/de-de/blog/fill-assist-improving-autofill-every-time-for-everyone/) for organizations
- Share vault items with a link
- Stage users and suppress automatic invitation emails

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for these communications!
